Fwd: The Cracked Pot

Tuesday, January 23, 2007

An elderly Chinese woman had two large pots, each hung on the ends of a
pole, which she carried across her neck.  One of the pots had a crack in
it while the other pot was perfect and always delivered a full portion
of water.  At the end of the long walk from the stream to the house, the
cracked pot arrived only half full.

For a full two years this went on daily, with the woman bringing home
only one and a half pots of water.  Of course, the perfect pot was proud
of its accomplishments.  But the poor cracked pot was ashamed of its own
imperfection, and miserable that it could only do half of what it had
been made to do.

After two years of what it perceived to be bitter failure, it spoke to
the woman one day by the stream, "I am ashamed of myself, because this
crack in my side causes water to leak out all the way back to your
house."

The old woman smiled, "Did you notice that there are flowers on your
side of the path, but not on the other pot's side?  That's because I
have always known about your flaw, so I planted flower seeds on your
side of the path, and every day while we walk back, you water them.  For
two years I have been able to pick these beautiful flowers to decorate
the table.  Without you being just the way you are, there would not be
this beauty to grace the house."

Each of us has our own unique flaw.  But it's the cracks and flaws we
each have that make our lives together so very interesting and
rewarding.  You've just got to take each person for what they are and
look for the good in them.

So, to all of my crackpot friends, have a great day and remember to
smell the flowers on your side of the path!

of few words

Thursday, January 18, 2007

I was going over some invitations to join friendster (It had been a long time before I finally decided to have a tryout) and reading profiles, blog entries of friends who are in the network. I closely looked on how elaborate they can become like pouring the soul in the words of their entries. The number of lines they create are amazing. How do you keep them coming without being dragged in with all the facts. I am not the outspoken type of person. Even with the personal blog where I can likely put everything the world has offered to me, I still come back to the comforts of mystery and solitude in the silence of nature. I am a lady of few words. I love to observe, look and see the beauty in the smallest or biggest of creations. But maybe in time, things will be different.

What’s in store for 2007?

Monday, January 8, 2007

For the chinese, 2007 is the year of the pig, a year of abundance. Others say, it's the start of the times of troubles. I say it's another gift, another chance to live and enjoy the creations of God. Year 2006 was a big year for me. I can only count the blessings He has given to me. It's a year worth celebrating and a year worth cherishing. I hope 2007 will be better. Most of all, good health for my family and friends.

Some of the treasures I got in 2006 are:

1. a good term of office in Rotary, with friends.

2. 3 months stay in Netherlands, gained global perspectives, and new friends

3. new companions, and loved one

4. better companions and friendship in the office, and in ADZU

5. passing toefl, gaining medical knowledge and having renewed driving license

6. etc.. etc..

This was taken last December 20-22, 2006 when the Computer Center had its formation activity in Woodland, Zamboanga City.
