 (100 Love Sonnets, 1960)

I don’t love you as if you were the salt-rose, topaz
or arrow of carnations that propagate fire:
I love you as certain dark things are loved,
secretly, between the shadow and the soul.
I love you as the plant that doesn’t bloom and carries
hidden within itself the light of those flowers,
and thanks to your love, darkly in my body
lives the dense fragrance that rises from the earth.
I love you without knowing how, or when, or from where,
I love you simply, without problems or pride:
I love you in this way because I don’t know any other way of loving
but this, in which there is no I or you,
so intimate that your hand upon my chest is my hand,
so intimate that when I fall asleep it is your eyes that close.

Puppy Year ahead!

Tuesday, January 3, 2006

Happy New Year everyone. The year started with a good feeling. I think this will be a promising year for all of us. To start, there are many good things to take care of like kicking off the newly chaptered Philippine Society of IT educators in region IX and myself as charter president after ending a two year term as president of the Council of Deans for ICT in region IX last December 2005 in Dakak. It was a wonderful time despite the workload as organizer. PSITE IX’s challenge is to better the quality of teaching for our ICT teachers. Of course, there’s another year, another dear.. hehe.. With it, the big ADZU 7 year plan that everyone’s stressing about. Too many due dates to squeeze in.. Not to mention, the application requirements for Nuffic and PH.D. I should schedule TOEFL this month already. Whoah! Behind these things, there are the off campus activities like medical and dental mission for February and requirement for Rotary Citation Award. Which to do first? RITECC IX is warming up too… yoohoo..

I cannot see what lies ahead but something tells me this is a good year. I am glad 2005 is over and things are sorted out. Let us hope this spirit will live on to face the new challenges. All the best!!!
