Panic Mode

Friday, September 16, 2005

Last month on Aug. 15, an announcement was made to uphold the anti-piracy and IPR law. Sept. 16 was the day to be alarmed. All institutions will be inspected for compliance. Those who do not use authorized software can face imprisonment of up to nine (9) years.

In Zamboanga, stalls and shops closed business temporarily while the issue is hot. Rumors say that certain pharmaceutical stores and internet shops were already apprehended but still remains to be seen. Overall, majority are now in their panic mode.

Fighting crimes like this needs cooperative effort and not surprises of attacks, most specially, in academic institutions. Nonetheless, I call everyone to be vigilant and let’s join together in helping one another realize this compliance.
